Whether it’s an office, school, or health-care establishment, the floor of your business is an essential component of your working environment. Not only is it important for your employees (who will get more use out of it than anyone), but it’s also a key element of your corporate image and can enhance or diminish people’s perception of your brand. Getting the right company to install your floor is a no brainer, but with so many companies out there, how do you choose the right one?
Do they have a good reputation?
Reputation can’t be built in a day, and it also isn’t something that can be fabricated or feigned. A good business reputation can only come from carrying out great work and establishing happy customers. Read through their customer testimonials and be sure to check Google and Facebook reviews, as these are much harder to manipulate. If you want extra assurance, ask for some client references so you can speak to them directly. Any contractor worth their salt will be happy to provide you with this.
Check they’re fully licensed and insured?
It really is amazing how many contractors don’t have the required insurance or accreditations in place, so it’s essential that you check this. E&M Services has always been committed to the highest levels of health and safety. In order to demonstrate to our clients our commitment to safe working practices and professionalism, we are members of the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS), and we have also achieved accreditation from SafeContractor.
Experience and expertise
It’s crucial that the contractor you select is an expert in their field and that they have the necessary experience to complete the job to a high standard. Check their company history and also have a look at the portfolio or gallery on their website (if they have one). This will give you an idea of how long they’ve been working in the industry and also the type of projects they have worked on. Check the quality of the work in the portfolio items and cross reference them with the testimonials. This will give you an insight into how happy the client was with the work.
Cost
The cost is obviously an important factor. It needs to be in line with your budget, or you will have to look elsewhere. But you shouldn’t base your decision entirely on the project cost… Going for the cheapest option can in many cases lead to poor quality craftsmanship, or worse still, a half-finished project. When providing you with an estimate it’s important that the contractor gives you a detailed breakdown of the costs involved, along with an explanation for each of the costs.
Links with manufacturers
Another important factor to consider is whether the contractor has decent knowledge about the industry products and a good relationship with the leading industry manufacturers. An experienced contractor will have spent time learning which products are high quality (and low quality) and which manufacturers are the best to deal with (and who should be avoided). E&M Services has links with all the major flooring brands including Heuga, Interface, Burmatex, Tarkett, Karndean and many more. We also offer expert advice on the best products for you and can help you with the design of your new flooring.
